आपको जानकार यह अति हैरानी होगी कि भगत सिंह जी को शहीद का दर्ज़ा प्राप्त नहीं  ?       सूचना आयुक्त श्रीधर आचार्युलु ने एक आरटीआई के जवाब में कहा है कि भगत सिंह जैसे क्रांतिकारी को सरकारी दस्तावेज़ में शहीद का दर्ज़ा ही नहीं मिला हुआ – यह आरटीआई सबसे पहले राष्ट्रपति दफ्तर भेजी गयी थी। सूचना आयुक्त ने सरकार से कहा है यह स्पष्ट किया जाये कि भगत सिंह जैसे क्रांतिकारी को शहीद का दर्ज़ा है या नहीं ? पाकिस्तान की कोट लखपत जेल मे मारे गए सरबजीत सिंह को राष्ट्रीय शहीद घोषित किया , जबकि भगत सिंह , राजगुरु और सुखदेव के दर्ज़े को लेकर कोई भी स्पष्ट दस्तावेज़ उपलब्ध नहीं । ( BBC हिन्दी के आधार पर)
